Each week we let Saint Pope John Paul II share meaningful signposts to spark socio-economic resolves through justice and righteousness combined with mercy and compassion; in short, love.
7 Then a cloud appeared and covered them with its shadow, and a voice came from the cloud, “This is my own dear Son—listen to him!
__ Mark 9: 7 (Good News Translation GNT)
Asunción, Paraguay—17 May 1988 | As a beacon of hope, the Church encourages us to be good, enlightens people with its social teachings, and guides them on their path to happiness. It helps them navigate the wide range of prevailing ideologies to find the truth.
The Christian design is fading. Church doctrine is less Spirit-filled and more relegated to human dogma. It is still filled with optimism and hope, but the church hears its voice in social, political, and scientific institutions. The human voice addresses humanity and uses humankind as the main character in the construction of society.
Yet this is the point—and men and women must always think similarly—about the human being created in God’s image and likeness. One is called to develop that image in one’s personal and communal life. Does the church actively listen to God's voice? This question challenges us all to reflect on our faith and the role of the Church in our lives.
"Prayer is not only speaking but, above all, listening."
